Nomad Portable Power Cleaner
TTI Floor Care
Techtronic Industries (TTI) markets a portable pressurized water cleaning product called the Dirtworker which is powered through a 12 volt DC power jack. TTI came to Zukun to develop a line of products around the existing concept. The new models feature battery power instead of the 12 volt RC power jack, giving the product the ultimate freedom to go anywhere. The new models also offered additional storage, more accessories, and a redesign of the form for improved versatility, ease of use, and portability.
Development started with creative ideation focusing on configuration and aesthetic concepts. As designs were refined aesthetic considerations had to merge with functional requirements such as, tank and base removal, molding details, filling and cleaning issues, and portability. Initial design models were created for focus group evaluation, with illustrations used for further market evaluation. Zukun continued with extensive component and mechanical development, identifying any preexisting components, exploring solutions as part took on a manufacturable form, and developing preliminary CAD assemblies resolving volume and form relationships. Zukun refined the final design into production ready manufacturing data, resolving assembly issues, simplifying geometry, strengthening high stress areas, and enhancing performance of the design.
Zukun provided design services for the 18 volt cordless version shown here, and a smaller 12 volt unit with matching aesthetics and function.
